Acting Entry

Tabu has started her acting career with the Bollywood film "Bazaar" in a small role and "Hum Naujawan", as a child artist. Her first lead debut in telugu film Coolie No.1, hindi debut as a lead is Pehla Pehla Pyar.

Film Career

Tabu had eight releases in 1996, In those two films Saajan Chale Sasural and Jeet went on to be hits. For the film Maachis shewon her first National Film Award for Best Actress for her performance. She debuted in Kollywood through the film Kadhal Desam directed by Kathir with Abbas and Vineeth. she starred in two successful multi-starrer films Biwi No.1 and Hum Saath-Saath Hain: We Stand United. They were the first and second biggest hits of that year respectively.

Tabu starred in her first Hollywood film, The Namesake, directed by Mira Nair. The film was a big hit overseas. In 2012, she featured in her second Hollywood film, Life of Pi, directed by Ang Lee. In this she played a supporting role as the mother of the protagonist. Tabu has acted in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Bengali films and in American production- The Namesake.
