Asin Thottumkal is familiarly known as 'Asin'. She is a model, stage performer and actress. Asin Thottumkal is famous in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu & Hindi films. She was born ion October 26, 1985 at Kochi, Ernakulum district of Kerala, her parents are 'Joseph Thottumkal' and 'Seline Thottumkal'. Asin's father is a business man and her mother is surgeon. She completed her schooling from LKG through X standard at 'Naval Public School'. Asin chose Humanities in Intermediate, She attended St. Teresa's School in Kochi for her Plus Two education. Asin completed her graduation with Bachelors of Arts degree in English Literature, at 'St. Teresa's College' in Kochi. Asin's first acting was in a television advertisement for 'BPL Mobile'. She debuted in a Malayalam film 'Narendran Makan Jayakanthan Vaka' in 2001, at the age of 15.

Asin Thottumkal was entered in tollywood in 2003, but she entered in film industry in 2001 with the 'Malayalam' movie 'Narendran Makan Jayakanthan Vaka', She acted this movie at the age of 15. Asin's first movie in Tolyywood is 'Amma Nana O Tamila Ammayi', paired with 'Ravi Teja' in 2003. For this movie she got FilmFare Award for Best Actress in Telugu. In the same year she acted in movie 'Shivamani' with 'Akkineni Nagarjuna' and won the Santosham Best Actress Award for her performance. Before coming into the acting stage she ia model.

Film Career

Asin's first Tamil language film was 'M. Kumaran S/O Mahalakshmi', in which she co-starred with 'Jayam Ravi' in 2004. In the same year she acted in a Telugu film 'Gharshna' paired with 'Victory Venkatesh'. The film provided the breakthrough for Asin was 'Ghajini', co-starring 'Surya' and was directed by 'A. R. Murugadoss', this movie earned her the Tamil Filmfare Award for Best Actress. Asin appeared in Pawan Kalyan's 'Annavaram', another successful venture which was a remake of 'Thirupaachi', in 2006. In 2008 she appeared in her first dual role in K. S. Ravikumar's 'Dasavathaaram' opposite 'Kamal Haasan'. Asin acted in Bollywood, first film 'Ghajini' opposite 'Aamir Khan' was the remake of her breakthrough film of the same name. Later she acted in Vipul Shah's 'London Dreams' alongside 'Salman Khan' and 'Ajay Devgn'. In 2012 she acted in Rohit Shetty's 'Bol Bachchan' alongside 'Ajay Devgn' and 'Abhishek Bachchan'. Asin can speak seven languages being well-versed in Malayalam (her mother tongue), Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, French, English and Sanskrit.
