Nayantara's Actual name is Diana Mariam Kurian, born 18 November 1984. She is an Indian film actress. Nayanatara mostly acted in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu movies. Her parents are 'Kurian Kodiyattu' and 'Omana Kurian', she has one brother named 'Lenu'. She studied in various parts of India (Bangalore, Gujarat, Delhi and Kerala), as her father was an Indian Air Force official. She did her schooling at the prestigious Kendriya Vidyalaya schools in north India and then attended Marthoma College in Tiruvalla for her Bachelors degree in English Literature. She is a native of Tiruvalla, Pathanamthitta district. While studying at college, Nayantara was working as a part-time model. She was spotted by director 'Sathyan Anthikkad', who had seen some of her modelling assignments and approached her to play a pivotal role opposite Jayaram in his film 'Manassinakkare' in 2003. Although she turned down the offer initially, as she was not interested in films, she gave in eventually and agreed to do "just that one movie".

Acting Entry

Nayanatara entered in acting career with the movie 'Manassinakkare' in Malayalam in the year 2003, Manassinakkare went on to become a high financial success and she continued to receive acting offers. She has two releases in 2004, 'Natturajavu' by 'Shaji Kailas' and Fazil's psychological thriller 'Vismayathumbathu' saw her co-starring alongside 'Mohanlal', Her performance in 'Vismayathumbathu', in particular, was lauded, with critics claiming that she had "stolen the thunder with her author-backed role". She also acted opposite 'Mammootty' in 'Thaskara Veeran' and 'Rappakal'.

Film Career

she was debut in Tamil movie opposite 'Sarath Kumar' in Hari's 'Ayya', she had made a "sensational debut in Tamil". Later that year her Tamil film, A. R. Murugadoss' 'Ghajini', in which she played a secondary female character, again was a commercially highly successful venture. Nayanatara made her debut in Telugu, starring in the film 'Lakshmi', following which she performed in 'Boss, I Love You', alongside 'Venkatesh' and 'Nagarjuna' respectively. In 2008 she had five releases, four of which in Tamil. Her first release, the family entertainer 'Yaaradi Nee Mohini' was one of the highest grossing Tamil films of the year, besides receiving seven nominations at the 56th Filmfare Awards South, including a Best Actress nomination for Nayantara for her portrayal of Keerthi. Her subsequent releases, however, 'Kuselan' opposite Rajnikanth, Sathyam opposite 'Vishal', 'Aegan' opposite Ajith Kumar and 'Villu' opposite Vijay were all unsuccessful. Her only successful release in 2009 was Aadhavan with Surya which released in October 2009, and become one of the few hits of 2009 which ran for 100 days.

Nayanatara's only release in 2011 was the mythological film 'Sri Rama Rajyam' by Bapu, in which she played the role of 'Sita'. She received critical acclaim for her performance. Nayanthara is the surprise package of the film. As Sita, she too has played the role of her lifetime. She gave a fine understated performance conveying a kaleidoscope of emotions. She was awarded the Nandi Award for Best Actress and the Filmfare Award for Best Telugu Actress. The film was dubbed in the media as her swan song and considered to be her last release before her marriage as she was reported to quit acting thereafter.

After her break-up with Prabhu Deva, she made a comeback; she began shooting for Krish's Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum with Rana Daggubati in March 2012. Her first release in 2013 was Greeku Veerudu alongside Akkineni Nagarjuna
