Mohammad Azharuddin is a former Indian cricketer and a politician. He was born on Feb 8, 1963 at Hyderabad, Telangana State, India. He was batsman and captained the Indian cricket team in 1990s. He attended All Saints High School, Hyderabad in Hyderabad. he graduated from Nizam College, Osmania University, Hyderabad. Azharuddin was married to Naureen, the pair having two sons, Asad and Ayaz, both are divorced after 9 years of marriage. He then married model-actor Sangeeta Bijlani in 1996. The couple separated in 2010.

Early career

Azharuddin induction into the Indian cricket team as a middle order batsman,he fastly gained international fame by scoring 3 test centuries in the first 3 test matches he played. Azhar had become the first person in the world to hit 3 consecutive centuries on debut.

career

Azharuddin was captain of the Indian team in 1990s. He has been one of Indias most successful captains. His 14 test match wins as captain was a record until it was bettered by then Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly with 21 test match wins.

Azhruddin joined the Indian National Congress party on 19 February 2009. He contested the Indian general election, 2009 from Moradabad in western Uttar Pradesh.
